IKU YAKITORI
This Japanese yakitori bar was always going to be a very special place. Having worked with successful restaurateurs Mitch and Nerissa on their other venues (Etsu Izakaya, Aloha & Commune Espresso), we knew the standard had to be at the very best.
Things were slightly different on this project as the owners are great designers so our job here was to engineer and build their vision into reality.
One of our favourite parts of this design are the timber cube booth seating. These are suspended from the ceiling and wall with a framed base so the sleepers cantilevered to create the illusion that the cube booths are floating.
With hardwood on the walls, cobbled tiled floors that butted into a highly polished concrete bar and with an amazing horse shoe shaped blue velour booth seating, this project really has the impact that the clients desired.
